Common Mistakes to Avoid
Entering the final weight as a decimal instead of a percentage
Fix: Enter the weight as a percentage (e.g., 25 for 25%). The calculator converts it internally — entering 0.25 would be treated as 0.25%.
Forgetting that the current grade only covers the non-final portion
Fix: Your current grade applies only to the portion of the course already completed. The formula multiplies it by (1 - final weight) to get secured points.
Assuming any target is reachable
Fix: If the needed grade exceeds 100%, the target is not achievable through the final alone. You would need extra credit or to reconsider your target.
